Welcome Sarah!

A little girl named Sarah has been the topic of much of Leah's conversation lately. Last night she got on one particularly long tangent and I thought I would share with you what I know about this Sarah girl.

Sarah is 5....no 10 years old.
Sarah does yoga and goes to yoga school.
Sarah doesn't go to school because her mom doesn't know where it is.
Sarah has a friend named Tina.
Tina has a brown....no, black face.
Sarah's mom has curly hair.
Sarah goes to karate (Sam wonders if she can do moves like Kung Fu Panda).
Sarah has gone poop and seen corn (sorry, that's gross but kinda cute) and so has Tina.
Sarah has a little brother named Tommy.
Sarah has karate skills (yes, she said 'skills').
She meets our neighbor boy at his karate class.
Sarah has blonde hair and pink clothes on.
Sarah has a note for me which Leah will run and go get.
The note says "Dear Sarah, I love you very much and I love your mom too, you should come over tomorrow."
Sarah doesn't want to talk anymore.

If you haven't caught on by now Sarah is the newest imaginary friend created by my little Leah. Sam has had a hard time accepting Sarah. He hasn't met her and it's really weird to him that she doesn't go to school. My Shaunie just asks questions and smiles at me when Leah talks about her. We would like to officially welcome Sarah. I think she'll only be around until Leah starts Kindergarten. Then they all seem to go away.

Kara said...: Welcome Sarah!!! When I was little mine were Sally, Stephanie, and Simon. I made my mom put bows in Sally's hair that would fall to the ground. I made her buckle her in the car, and make her a bed next to mine. She would frequently get kidnapped at Disneyland, but I sure was serious about my little friends. Sam: in the car "It smells like throw up in here." Leah: I think it smells like brownies."

Things I've Learned...

Children are very trusting. Leah caught me eating a handfull of M&M's. She asked me what I was eating and in an effort to avoid sharing with her I told her I was eating "beans". At first she didn't believe me but I insisted. Today she has asked for some "beans" about three different times.
--Shaunie learned that humans are mammals, but Leah had a hard time grasping the idea. She ended up just calling her dad a "manimmal" instead.
--When Leah says "Mom, I'll hold it for you." She really means "Mom, I'll take that from you and eat it."
--You can take pictures of pictures with your digital camera (goodbye scanner!)

Nakie

We were on our way to get Sam from preschool a couple weeks ago (when the weather was nice) and a neighbor down the street was washing his car. He didn't have his shirt on because the sun was still pretty warm. Leah pointed at him as we walked by and said "Look Mommy, he is nakie!" She couldn't believe that someone would go out without clothing. How wrong! I tried to explain that he was just hot so he wasn't wearing his shirt, but she insisted that he was 'nakie'. Then she asked as if she had found the only solution, "Where's his mommy?"

GO to BED!

Last night we were coming home from an errand and Leah was really upset. She was missing her old, brown car seat (yes, the fact that it was brown was very important). She was whining like we had taken away her most beloved doll. Oh the injustice of giving her brown car seat away! She loved that car seat and now that was all she wanted in the whole world. After a while of listening to her whine Sam piped up, a little fatigued of her complaints and said, "Leah, just go to bed!" In quick retort and without skipping a beat, Leah replied "But I will just dream about my brown car seat!"
